First overarching history of the humanities to appear in 2013

The first general history of the humanities in the English language will appear with Oxford University Press in 2013. The book, which is an extended translation from the original Dutch work by Rens Bod, will cover the comparative history of eight humanistic disciplines from Antiquity to the present day, taking into account six world regions. The book is also being translated into Chinese and Russian, as well as into some other languages. The title of the English version will be “A New History of the Humanities: The Search for Principles and Patterns from Antiquity to the Present
